Metropoli d’Asia was at the Singapore Writers Festival on 24th October, where it took part in the meeting “Discovering New Writers, Finding New Readers”. On that occasion, a new literary prize called the Catalyst-Metropoli d'Asia (CAM) Fiction Prize was launched. A mixed Italian-Singapore jury will award the prize to a novel by a Singapore author. The prize will be $10,000 plus a contract for the acquisition of the worldwide rights by Metropoli d'Asia jointly with Ethos Books (a Singapore-based publisher), and the subsequent publication in Italy. The participation of the Singapore institutions and sponsors makes it the richest prize to date for Asian literature in English. The speech launching the prize was given by the Director of the Italian Institute of Culture, Professor Ostelio Remi. Present at the debate were Alvin Pang for Catalyst – a non-profit organization for the promotion of literature in Singapore –, Tiziano Fratus from Torinopoesia Edizioni and David Fedo, a poet who lives in Singapore, as well as Andrea Berrini for Metropoli d'Asia.
